Emma grew up on a farm and loves the countryside. She passionately endorses YHA’s belief that ‘where you go changes who you become’ and believes that access to nature and being outside can have positive effects on mental health and wellbeing, especially for young people.
Emma began her career in the travel sector in marketing positions at Thomson Holidays, British Airways and Tourism Australia. She then worked at the BBC, initially as Marketing and Fundraising Director for BBC Children in Need, and then in other marketing and strategy roles.
She now runs corporate social responsibility at Global, the media and entertainment group, which encompasses the UK’s largest commercial radio company, including youth brand, Capital. As part of this brief she runs the in-house charity, Make Some Noise, which is a grantmaker supporting small charities and projects that work with disadvantaged children and young people. Emma is also Chair of Governors for a secondary school. She became a Trustee in 2019.
