About this opportunity
This flexible programme was offered as a half / full day visit or one-night residential.
Participants developed an appreciation for nature and all that is living. All activities were designed to develop self-awareness, self-esteem, team working and respect, and benefit both physical and mental health wellbeing.
Tailored experiences included:
- outdoor living skills: shelter building, fire lighting, water filtering, wild foods and foraging, campfire cooking
- natural history and citizen science activities: plant/tree ID, habitat conservation, pond dipping, bio-blitz surveys, guided nature walks and water cycle activities
- pre-history sessions: bringing local history to life with a focus on Stone Age and Bronze age; carving, tools and weaponry, foods and medicines, arts and crafts
- natural arts and crafts: natural dyes, printing, weaving, willow crafts, land art, clay and green wood crafts
- team building games: range of team challenges while exploring the natural surroundings
