Set just a short distance from the famous Malham Cove, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar, YHA Malham offers comfortable Pennine Way accommodation in the heart of a beautiful dales village. Surrounded by classic limestone scenery and with a prime location in the centre of the village, the hostel boasts a well-appointed restaurant, pretty grounds and a vast range of bedroom types, including the recent addition of en-suite facilities.
The Pennine Way and Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way pass close by, making it a great option for walking and cycling holidays in the Dales.

Dorm rooms have multiple beds and are shared with other people who may not be travelling together. They are usually more affordable than private rooms as you'll be booking a bed rather than the whole room.
A typical shared dorm room includes bunk beds, a reading light and a storage cupboard for each guest.
Children aged between 12 and 15 can stay in dorm rooms as long as an adult of the same gender accompanies them.
Shared shower and toilet facilities are located near to the room. None of our dorm rooms have en-suite facilities.
Want some privacy? With a private room, you'll be booking the whole room for your stay.

If you like camping, you'll love these wooden camping pods! A stay in them will includes all the fun of camping plus protection from the elements - they even have heaters.
Bring all your usual camping gear, apart from sleeping bags and mats - there are two single beds with bedding. Each pod also has its own individual decking area.

Reception opening hours: From 07:30 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 22:00.
Food and drink: Breakfast is served to guests daily from 07:30 – 09:00.

Dogs: Dogs can stay in our camping pods. There is a £5 charge per dog per night for our camping pod accommodation which is payable upon arrival. Pets are not permitted in the hostel accommodation at YHA Malham. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout.

Malham is an ideal school trip destination, providing a scenic rural location with access to a range of activities and places of natural interest. Educational packages in both history and geography are available. There is space for up to 82 people, an on site restaurant and classroom facilities, perfect for school parties.

Volunteering with YHA is a fantastic way to have fun, learn new skills, boost your CV and travel to different places. We have a variety of different opportunities to choose from and volunteering roles to suit everyone.
The tasks are varied and in return you will meet some great people, who both work and stay in our hostels, as well as enjoying your time off discovering the local area and attractions.

John Dower architect, rambler, conservationist and one of the key founders of the National Park movement designed several of the earliest Youth Hostels including Malham, opened in 1938. Malham was the first purpose built hostel in Yorkshire and it was built on the site of the old Malham Sheep Fair and funded by King George’s Jubilee Trust.
Christine and Martin Peryer have been managers with YHA for nearly 30 years at both city and rural hostels.
Manager recommends: The Malham area is famous for its Limestone Geology. So don't miss the lovely Janet’s Foss waterfall, spectacular Gordale Scar, Malham Cove and Malham Tarn are all within easy walking distance and definitely worth the visit. The Pennine Way and Yorkshire Dales Cycleway both pass through this village at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park so it's a good spot for walking holidays and cycling holidays. The hostel has good facilities for educational groups on school trips.
