Situated in beautiful upper Wensleydale, YHA Hawes is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Hawes, England's highest market town. There are great walking and cycling routes straight from the door and this part of the Yorkshire Dales is particularly rich in waterfalls, including Hawdraw Force.
In addition to the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, local attractions include the famous Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre, home of Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese, and the Dales Country Museum with exhibitions and activities all year round.
Dorms are not currently available.
Dorm rooms have multiple beds and are shared with other people who may not be travelling together. They are usually more affordable than private rooms as you'll be booking a bed rather than the whole room.
A typical shared dorm room includes bunk beds, a reading light and a storage cupboard for each guest.
Children aged between 12 and 15 can stay in dorm rooms as long as an adult of the same gender accompanies them.
Shared shower and toilet facilities are located near to the room. None of our dorm rooms have en-suite facilities.
Want some privacy? With a private room, you'll be booking the whole room for your stay.
Private rooms typically include a storage cupboard and reading light for each bed, plus a wash hand basin.
Shared shower and toilet facilities are located near to the room.
For added privacy, relax with your family, friends or by yourself in a private en-suite room.
Private en-suite rooms typically include a storage cupboard and reading light for each bed, plus shower and toilet facilities solely for the people in your room.
Camping is sold per person and not per pitch. During the booking process, you will need to select the number of people who you wish to camp.
Our camping area provides camping for approximately 12 people in their own tents. Campers have access to all of the hostel facilities.
Check-in at our reception before setting up your tent. Guests are not permitted to stay in their vehicles overnight.

A purpose built hostel on the route of several long distance paths including the Pennine Way.
YHA Hawes is managed by Steve and his team. We aim to provide the best of service in a warm, friendly and spotlessly clean environment. David is the owner of the business and spends free time at the hostel away from his day job where possible. We have plans to offer work experience to young people with learning disabilities while still maintaining a hostel for all to enjoy. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you.
Manager recommends: Come and have dinner at YHA Hawes and enjoy the magnificent view across the Wensleydale. There are very few better views in the Yorkshire Dales. YHA Hawes is a comfortable hostel close to a range of tourist attractions, making it a good base for cheap family breaks.
