Temporary changes at YHA Hawes

For the foreseeable future, the following changes will be in operation at YHA Hawes. We are sorry for inconvenience this has caused, we're working hard to safely open all areas of our hostels as soon as we can.

Dorms

  1. Dorms are not currently available.

Private rooms

  1. This hostel offers private rooms with en-suite or shared toilet and shower facilities on corridors. For stays before 7th September 2020, private rooms using shared toilets and showers will be allocated a specific toilet/shower for sole-use. From the 7th September shared toilets and showers will be in operation with extra Covid-secure cleaning regimes.

  3. Drying room(s) remain closed.

  4. The bar will remain closed.

Food

  1. We will be serving a limited food and drinks menu for guests to take away.

Situated in beautiful upper Wensleydale, YHA Hawes is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Hawes, England's highest market town. There are great walking and cycling routes straight from the door and this part of the Yorkshire Dales is particularly rich in waterfalls, including Hawdraw Force.

In addition to the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, local attractions include the famous Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre, home of Real Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese, and the Dales Country Museum with exhibitions and activities all year round.

Accommodation at YHA Hawes

The hostel

YHA Hawes has 52 beds in 14 rooms. All rooms have fabulous views over the Yorkshire Dales. The hostel benefits from a garden, drying room and classroom facilities.

The common room is full of comfortable furniture and has maps on display so that you can plan your walks for the next few days from the hostel and is opposite our dining room, where you can relax with your meal.

Room breakdown: 2x2 bed en suites 4x2 two beds 3x3 beds 1x4 bed 2x6 beds 1x7 bed 1x8 bed.

Hire the whole place

This hostel is occasionally made available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire. Volunteering

History

A purpose built hostel on the route of several long distance paths including the Pennine Way.

Meet the team

Grenville is the manager at YHA Hawes. Manager recommends: Come and have dinner at YHA Hawes and enjoy the magnificent view across the Wensleydale. There are very few better views in the Yorkshire Dales. YHA Hawes is a comfortable hostel close to a range of tourist attractions, making it a good base for cheap family breaks.
