Accommodation

The Hostel

81 beds with 19 rooms sleeping between two and eight people. Four are en-suites and one of these is an accessible room. The hostel compirses of two buildings and includes bedrooms in Dower House, The Fold and features a classroom called The Rookery. Look out for murals of local information and get inspired!

Camping Pods

Like camping but dont like the rain/wind/sun? If a tent isn't for you, YHA Malham have got the perfect solution with their brand new camping pods. Situated in the grounds of the Youth Hostel, these two wooden pods can sleep two people and even have heaters so you can fully protect yourself from the elements. The pods have two futon beds with bedding, so leave the tent and sleeping bag at home!

Hire the whole place

This hostel is occasionally made available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire. You can check availability for Exclusive Hire on our dedicated website, or use our live chat service for more information. There is also an Annex available to hire, as well as the main building.

Walking & Rambling

A walkers’ paradise. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned walker, you will find the Malhamdale scenery truly stunning. For something new, try the modern day treasure hunt and go geocaching - fun for all the family. You can't leave Malham without exploring Malham Cove, or for a gentle walk, take the streamside path to Janet's Foss.

Mountain Biking

The Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way passes through Malham, and offers a classic 3 or 4 day cycle ride. Get out on your bike and enjoy the stunning landscape. Whether you’re after hard core down hills, or just a simple ride through the countryside, you can ride as far as your legs will allow you!

Climbing

Malham Cove, as seen in one of the Harry Potter films, was used for training by the successful 1953 Everest Expedition, and has some of the toughest Limestone routes in the world.

A hugely enjoyable, varied run starting at the great silver expanse of Malham Tarn,with breathtaking views from the ridge. From start follow track SE towards Malham Tarn. Turn L onto Pennine Way and continue for 4 miles, ascending to Fountains Fell ridge. At cairn turn L leaving Pennine Way and follow waymarks along ridge. At third wall turn L following waymarks and wall SE on exhilarating descent to valley. Run through three gates to reach bridleway. At road turn R to return to start. Nearby Malham Cove and fascinating limestone pavement are within easy and enjoyable running distance, or great to take the family exploring.

Breakfast

A hot and cold buffet breakfast is available to kick start your day - we serve from 7:30am until 9am, with hot food available from 7:45am. Choose from a continental breakfast with cereal and yoghurts or there's a full English option if you're feeling particularly peckish. Breakfast is now available at 10% off - ONLY WHEN PRE-BOOKED. Simply add it to your basket at check out to save!

Lunch

We can provide a packed lunch including a freshly prepared sandwich, a delicious cake, cereal bar, a bottle of mineral water, a packet of crisps and a piece of fresh fruit. Eat in the hostel or take your packed lunch with you to enjoy during your day of exploring.

Evening Meals:

Supper Club

This hostel offers the YHA Supper Club menu. This is an evening meal served at a set time and sold at a set price. Guests in the Youth Hostel will have the opportunity to all sit around the table together and share stories with their fellow travellers - this is the authentic hostelling experience!

One free children's meal is available per adult main meal from the main menu when purchased at the same time. This offer is not available on breakfast.

We're fully licensed, so join us for a glass of wine or pint of beer and relax after your day. Our brand new coffee machine whips up fancy hot drinks - try our tasty Cakeaway offer for just £3 and enjoy a drink and something sweet!
