Director of Strategy and Engagement
“I have had a long career at senior exec and non exec level in many charities, including the British Red Cross. But before that, I began my working life as a teacher and I have a deep understanding of schools and education policy and funding, and the education sector’s links with other areas of policy including inclusion, health, environment, outdoor education, social mobility, community resilience, poverty, housing and community cohesion. More recently I founded and led the Every Child Should campaign which is all about the value of outdoor learning and residentials and every child’s entitlement to it.
I’ve previously supported YHA on the early development of a fundraising strategy, and as part of the Learning Away Consortium, so I know YHA well. With a long history with YHA - as a hosteller, teacher and as a champion of residentials - I’m delighted to now be part of the leadership team as Director of Strategy and Engagement. YHA runs amazing services. Each and every one of our overnights; our volunteering opportunities; our work with schools and youth groups and our work to reach families with challenging lives all contribute to a remarkable impact on both individuals and society. I’m looking forward to helping build on these firm foundations as we grow our charitable impact.”
Who are the YHA Executive team?
