Surrounded by classic limestone scenery and with a prime location in the centre of the village, the hostel boasts a well-appointed restaurant, pretty grounds and a vast range of bedroom types, including the recent addition of en-suite facilities.
The Pennine Way and Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way pass close by, making it a great option for walking and cycling holidays in the Dales. Heading a little further a field from Malham, the market town of Skipton offers a medieval castle, boat trips on the Leeds Liverpool canal plus boutique shops and cafés. What's more the Settle to Carlisle rail journey travels through majestic scenery and across the iconic Ribblehead viaduct.

Whether you are walking the Pennine Way, a school group doing a geography residential, a cycling club cycling the Way of the Roses or a group of friends wanting a relaxing break, this hostel is the perfect place to stay.
Groups of all sizes can take advantage of this hostel's idyllic location with Malham Cove, Malham Tarn and Gordale Scar all within walking distance.
Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group. Our bedrooms are split across two buildings.
Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.
Groups can make use of our spacious dining room, lounge and separate meeting room.
With tasty breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals, groups are sure to find something delicious to eat at YHA Malham (see sample menu).
Meal plans range from bed and breakfast up to full-board catering. Vegetarian options are available and we aim to cater for any special dietary requests.
Free parking is available on site, though spaces are limited.

YHA Malham holds a Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (103926).
This accreditation means that this hostel has externally audited risk assessments, verified insurance provision, quality checked safety logs and delivery observed by national reviewers.
Reception opening hours: From 07:30 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 22:00.
Food and drink: Breakfast is served to guests daily from 07:30 – 09:00.
Licensed bar: This hostel has a licensed bar offering a range of alcohol and soft drinks. It is not possible for guests to bring their own alcohol, except when hiring the whole hostel through YHA Exclusive Hire.
Self-catering: Guests have access to a self-catering kitchen.
Parking: Free parking is available on site, though spaces are limited.
WiFi: Free WiFi is available in shared social spaces.
Dogs: Dogs can stay in our camping pods. There is a £10 charge per dog per night for our camping pod accommodation which is payable upon arrival. Pets are not permitted in the hostel accommodation at YHA Malham. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout.

Malham Cove, as seen in one of the Harry Potter films, was used for training by the successful 1953 Everest Expedition, and has some of the toughest Limestone routes in the world.

John Dower architect, rambler, conservationist and one of the key founders of the National Park movement designed several of the earliest Youth Hostels including Malham, opened in 1938. Malham was the first purpose built hostel in Yorkshire and it was built on the site of the old Malham Sheep Fair and funded by King George’s Jubilee Trust.
Manager recommends: The Malham area is famous for its Limestone Geology. So don't miss the lovely Janet’s Foss waterfall, spectacular Gordale Scar, Malham Cove and Malham Tarn are all within easy walking distance and definitely worth the visit. The Pennine Way and Yorkshire Dales Cycleway both pass through this village at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park so it's a good spot for walking holidays and cycling holidays. The hostel has good facilities for educational groups on school trips.
