Situated just next door to the popular Conkers Discovery Centre, YHA National Forest is ideal for affordable family breaks, activity breaks and school trips. The eco-friendly building has been designed to reduce the effect of your stay on the environment, making it a great option for those keen to stay in environmentally friendly accommodation.
Aside from Conkers, other nearby attractions include Drayton Manor Theme Park and Twycross Zoo and there are plenty of great routes in the area for walking holidays and cycling holidays.
This hostel is available on an Exclusive Hire basis and for group bookings only.
YHA National Forest has everything you need to experience the best of Derbyshire. The hostel makes an ideal base for field trips and getaways in nature. Relax in our grounds or sit down for some group catering to keep you going throughout the day.
With Conkers Discovery Centre and the family-friendly activities of Rosliston Forestry Centre next door, we make a great choice for schools discovering the great outdoors. You could also have a day out at Twycross Zoo or learn industrial secrets at the Moira Furnace. Fans of Derbyshire’s amazing walking routes will find the Ashby Trail nearby and cyclists of all abilities are spoilt for choice.
Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.
Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.
Schools and other groups can relax in our extensive grounds and use our well-equipped meeting room to study. You’ll find facilities like a projector and speaker plus a whiteboard and flipchart to make plans. YHA National forest is located in the heart of the National Forest, just one mile from Conkers discovery centre, and is surrounded by young and developing woodland, cycleways and Great Britain's newest canal. The National Forest is the most ambitious national environmental project of the last 25 years. The plan is to create one constant area of woodland spanning the gap between the ancient forests of Charnwood in the east to Needwood in the west. The region as a whole covers over 200 square miles.
