Places to stay in Powys

Powys covers a large area of mid Wales, and is famed for its areas of superb natural beauty such as the Brecon Beacons and quaint market towns such as Hay-on-Wye and Brecon itself. The area is also famed for its arty and creative atmosphere, with many photographers, painters and sculptors using the natural contours of the surrounding landscape as their muse. The annual Hay Festival of Literature held in the town regularly attracts such names as Bill Clinton, Sir Paul McCartney and Van Morrison.

When visiting the area, be sure to cross over the border into Herefordshire too. The whole region is incredibly popular at the moment for its prime quality produce - the kids will love to try the famous Little Herefordshire cheese!
