Places to stay in Keswick

A small market town in beautiful surroundings, Keswick has been a popular tourist destination for hundreds of years. This is partly because of its situation close to two of the park's most famous lakes - Derwentwater to the south, where the famous Theatre by the Lake can be found, and Bassenthwaite Lake to the north-west. Whinlatter Forest Park, England's only mountain forest, can also be found to the west.

Keswick plays host to a number of annual events, including jazz, film and beer festivals, as well as several museums and attractions - the eccentric Cumberland Pencil Museum among them!
