Set on the edge of the area famed for being the home territory of Robin Hood, YHA Sherwood Forest is a lively hostel with cosy social areas, high-quality facilities and a quirky exterior. This hostel is a modern design with mostly en-suite bedrooms plus a spacious dining room, upstairs lounge and convenient drying room.

Look out for personal touches celebrating the legendary Robin Hood! Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre – developed in partnership the RSPB – and majestic Major Oak are nearby, as well as the village of Edwinstowe. There are lots of routes for walking holidays and cycling holidays and several parks within easy reach, making the hostel ideal for family activity breaks. Whether it is a stress-free stroll in the woods, a cycle in the park or a convenient spot to access the wider area, YHA Sherwood Forest has everything you need for a safe, relaxing and purposeful stay.

YHA Sherwood Forest, located near the Major Oak and Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, serves as an ideal base for exploring Greenwood and delving into Robin Hood's myths.

For school groups, the woodland presents opportunities for outdoor learning, covering subjects like geography and science. The Sherwood Forest Education Centre, developed with RSPB, offers tailored activities, inspiring writing and art-based activities. Social and special interest groups benefit from the blend of nature and urban access, whether for leisurely walks or accessing nearby attractions.

The centre also offers diverse outdoor activities, from exploring Robin Hood's legend to learning about woodland habitats and teamwork. Adventure seekers can enjoy GO Ape and other activities at Sherwood Pines, while local options include archery and orienteering.

Sleeping arrangements

Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.

Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.

Shared spaces

The hostel offers handy amenities like a spacious dining room and lounge. Free WiFi is also available.

Group catering

With tasty breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals, groups are sure to find something delicious to eat at YHA Sherwood Forest (see sample menu).

Meal plans range from bed and breakfast up to full-board catering. Vegetarian options are available and we aim to cater for any special dietary requests.

Parking

There is parking at the hostel. The car park is controlled by an ANPR parking system. Upon arrival, motorists are required to validate their presence by entering their car's registration number at reception.

Reception opening hours: From 07:30 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 22:00.

Licensed bar: This hostel has a licensed bar offering a range of alcohol and soft drinks. It is not possible for guests to bring their own alcohol, except when hiring the whole hostel through YHA Exclusive Hire.

Self-catering: YHA Sherwood Forest is self-catering only. Guests have access to a self-catering kitchen.

WiFi: Free WiFi is available in shared social spaces.
