Discovery and connection
Starting and finishing at YHA Conwy, this rewarding circular walk climbs out of the historic walled town into the peaceful Sychnant Pass Nature Reserve, where woodland, heathland and open hillside provide a rich variety of scenery and wildlife. The route then ascends Conwy Mountain (Mynydd y Dref), following ridge-top paths with spectacular views across Conwy Bay, the Great Orme, the Carneddau mountains and the Conwy Estuary.
After enjoying the wide-open panoramas, the walk descends through Bodlondeb Woods, a tranquil area of mature woodland overlooking the river, before reaching Conwy Quayside, where boats, the estuary and the impressive medieval castle create a picturesque waterfront setting. The final section explores the characterful streets of Conwy town, passing its ancient walls and historic buildings, before returning to the hostel.
