Beaumaris Beach

Of course, no trip to the seaside is complete without going to the beach. Whether you pitch up with a good book or bring a picnic, a visit to Beaumaris Beach is a must-do in the town.

Stroll around the town

If you’re the type of person who loves pottering around a pretty town, taking photos, and soaking in the ambience, then Beaumaris is the place for you. Discover the charming streets and picture-perfect pastel-coloured cottages and wander down to the seafront to enjoy the views over the Menai Strait and Snowdonia.

Beaumaris is home to some excellent independent shops as well as cafes, pubs, and restaurants where you can get a bite to eat or a drink.

Beaumaris Pier

The pier at Beaumaris is regarded as one of the best places to go crabbing in Wales! Crabbing is the perfect activity to keep children entertained while creating fun memories. You catch a crab using a line and bait, have a look at it, and then return it to the sea. Crabbing kits are available for the kiosk at the entrance to the pier.

If crabbing doesn’t float your boat, you can catch an actual boat from Beaumaris Pier. Try a wildlife watching trip to Puffin Island, where (as the name might suggest!) you can see puffins from late April to around the middle of August. There is a charge for boat trips.

There’s also more on the pier for children to do, including an outdoor paddling pool to splash around in plus a play area.

Oriel Beaumaris

Oriel Beaumaris is the artist Ian Walton’s studio and art gallery. Inside, you’ll find contemporary landscape and seascape original oil paintings and limited edition prints on display. The paintings are of the coastline of Anglesey, Snowdonia, and North Wales, and Ian is an award-winning artist. 

Beaumaris Artisan Market

Every Sunday from Easter until the end of October, you’ll be able to visit the Beaumaris Artisan market. Here, you’ll find around 25 market stalls alongside Beaumaris Castle, selling everything from local crafts to traditional Welsh food and drink.

Beaumaris Lifeboat Station

Beaumaris Lifeboat Station is located on the pier and has been saving lives at sea for over 100 years. Visitors to the lifeboat station can have a closer look at the lifeboats that are used for rescues and learn more about the station’s important role in the community. 

Church of St Mary and St Nicholas

The Church of St Mary and St Nicholas is a large, picturesque church which was built in the early 14th century. The church has many interesting objects inside, including the stone sarcophagus of Princess Joan, wife of Llewlyn the Great and daughter of King John.

Bulkeley Monument

Bulkeley Monument is a Grade II listed obelisk built to commemorate Sir Richard Bulkeley Williams Bulkeley, who was a dominant landowner in Beaumaris and spearheaded the town’s development into a seaside resort.
