YHA Boswinger was one of the first properties YHA brought in Cornwall. Originally it was two separate farm buildings but they have since been connected into one. The manager’s accommodation used to be three self-contained flats which were available for hire, but this has now been converted.

Meet the team

Rob Johnson, formerly of YHA Coverack, is the new summer manager of YHA Boswinger. There are many amazing spots in the local area to check out; just a couple of miles west is the beautiful beach of Poth Luney (no joke) and the pleasant gardens of Caerhays Castle. Six miles away in the other direction is the Lost Gardens of Heligan. If you are simply after a walk and some sea air, the South West Coast path is just at the bottom of the hill and will lead you up onto Dodman Point (once the largest Promontory fort in Europe) where you can enjoy some breath taking sea views. Along the coast in each direction are some lovely little villages that are well worth a look. These include East and West Porth Holland, Gorran Haven and, a little further afield, Charlestown with its Ship Wreck Heritage Centre.

Manager recommends: As part of your Cornish Coast break, head off the beaten track onto the Roseland Peninsula, a quiet haven of unspoilt beaches and traditional villages. For something to do on an activity holiday, don't miss the walk from the hostel to Dodman Point, a striking headland topped with a huge granite cross. Or visit nearby attractions The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
