Discovery and connection
Starting and finishing at YHA Ravenstor, this is a great Peak District walk. We'll start with a steep descent and ascent to get the blood pumping and reach the Monsal Trail, the old Derby-Manchester railway line which closed in the 1960s. From Miller’s Dale we'll enter Monk's Dale, a short lush steep-sided gorge named after the monks of Lenton Priory. At the end of the dale we'll head back down the Limestone Way to the hostel with views across the landscape.
The total ascent is 950ft (289m). Please wear footwear with good grip as the path in Monk's Dale is very uneven and limestone is slippery when damp/wet.
