Discovery and connection
This is a fantastic introduction to hillwalking and to Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District, led by qualified and knowledgeable guides. The route heads into the village of Edale, the starting point of the Pennine Way, before continuing up onto Grindslow Knoll, from where there are outstanding views across the surrounding hills and valleys. We continue onto the southern edge of the Kinder Plateau and depending on the group, weather conditions and available time, there may also be an opportunity to visit the site of a Second World War aircraft wreck.
The route involves steep slopes, rough and uneven ground, and exposed moorland terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Participants will need suitable walking footwear, appropriate outdoor clothing, and be prepared for changeable weather conditions.
The walk finishes with some well-earned refreshments back at back at YHA Edale.
