Discovery and connection
Starting and finishing at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall, this classic Peak District circular walk begins through the picturesque village of Castleton before climbing past the famous Blue John Cavern, renowned for its rare mineral and underground passages. The route then ascends to the summit of Mam Tor, the ‘Shivering Mountain’, where far-reaching views open across the Hope Valley, Edale and Kinder Scout.
Following the Great Ridge, one of the finest ridge walks in England, the path undulates over open moorland with spectacular panoramas on both sides before reaching the summit of Lose Hill. From here, the walk descends through the beautiful countryside returning to YHA Castleton Losehill Hall.
