Discovery and connection
Starting and finishing at YHA Boggle Hole, we cross Mill Beck and climb the steps to join the Cleveland Way/King Charles III England Coastal Path, heading south with superb views across Robin Hood’s Bay. The route follows the dramatic clifftops, passing the remains of the old Peak Alum Works and rugged coastal scenery before continuing towards Ravenscar, where there are panoramic views of the North Sea and the former railway station area.
From Ravenscar, leave the coast and join the Cinder Track, the level route of the old Scarborough–Whitby railway line. Follow this easy-going track northwards through open countryside and woodland, enjoying elevated views over the bay, before leaving the track and returning along paths to the clifftop above Boggle Hole. A final descent down the steep steps leads back to the hostel, completing a varied circular walk that combines spectacular coastal walking with a gentler inland return.
