Duration: 2 hours

Skills and confidence
This friendly Nordic Walking session is ideal for anyone who would like to try Nordic Walking and build confidence. We will begin with around 1 hour in the grounds of YHA National Forest, learning the basic Nordic Walking technique and how to use the poles safely and effectively.
There will be time for a comfort break before we head out for a Nordic Walk of just over 3 miles. The route starts along an old railway line on the Ivanhoe Way, before continuing beside the canal towards the famous Moira Furnace, an important local industrial heritage site. We will return to the hostel for a free cuppa and cake.
The session is suitable for beginners and those new to Nordic Walking. The first hour will focus on skills and confidence, followed by a relaxed social walk at a steady pace. Participants should be comfortable walking just over three miles after the introductory skills session.
Nordic walking poles will be available for free hire on the day.
Book your place: email Catherine at [email protected]. When you email, please include your name, mobile number (so we can contact you on the day if needed) and your height, so Nordic Walking poles of the correct length can be provided for your walk.
Places are limited so that everyone can get help with the technique. The leader will reply to confirm your place and send any final details before the walk.
This is in partnership with YHA's Festival of Walking - view other social walks.
