Explore the Cotswolds
The Cotswolds is not only stunningly beautiful, it is rather compact. If you base yourself in Stow-on-the-Wold you are perfectly positioned to explore exquisite scenery in all directions.

Revisit the war
Stow-on-the-Wold was the scene of the last battle of the English Civil War, back in 1646. Fighting took place in the square itself, with the blood of fallen soldiers said to have washed down Digbeth Street. Numerous plaques around the town chart the route of the armies involved.

St Edward's Church
This church also played a role in the Civil War, and now has detailed memorials to all those who have lost their lives in service of the British Armed Forces. It is also a very striking building, with trees growing around the doors to create an unforgettable image.

The Old Mill Museum
A wonderful museum exploring the life of an old mill which is great for kids, and situated in the picturesque - if oddly named - village of Lower Slaughter.
