This Privacy Notice sets out the data processing carried out by YHA (England & Wales) (‘YHA’, ‘we’, ‘our’) for the Generation Green 2 (or ‘project’) which is funded by a grant from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Processing purposes

YHA and our Generation Green 2 partners will be providing residential stays or day trips to groups of children and young people, funded by the Defra grant. We will need to process contact data to administrate your trip and we also want to evaluate your experiences, so we will collect several survey responses from participants, in paper during the stay and online afterwards. Where you agree to it, we may also take photos and video of your trip and ask for feedback and stories about your time in nature. These will be used by us, our partners, Defra and the evaluation team from the University of Derby to promote the Generation Green 2 project and to report on its impact. How we use this material will depend on what uses you consent to.

Lawful bases and data retention

The administration of your trip booking data relies upon Art 6 1(b), contract. The evaluation is being managed by the University, with assistance from YHA and the partners. The processing of photos, videos and stories relies upon Art 6 1(a), your consent and Art 9 2(a) where any special category data is collected.

Booking data is retained for 7 years. The evaluation data will be anonymised before analysis and no identifiable data will be retained after the evaluation ends.  Any photos, videos or stories will be retained in an identifiable format while they are in use and YHA will cease using them after 7 years, but hardcopies and anything published online may remain in circulation indefinitely.
