Cowes Maritime Museum
This museum situated in Cowes Library incorporates all aspects of local maritime activity from shipbuilding to sailing.
Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, YHA Isle of Wight Totland has the best of both worlds - a seaside village location, but with Newport, the Island Capital, just a 20-minute drive away. This makes it an ideal spot from which to explore the island.
Colwell Bay, the Needles Pleasure Park and Alum Bay are all within walking distance, easily reached for family days out. Take a walk along the downs or the cliff top path, enjoy an ice-cream on the pier or take a dip in the sea.
This 48-bed youth hostel has a selection of dorm beds and private rooms available. Relax in our beautifully kept guest garden or get comfortable with a good book in our well-stocked library/quiet lounge. Or indulge in an evening meal in our hostel restaurant/dining room that seats 32 guests.
The spacious main lounge is on the first floor and offers plenty of comfortable seating. There is also a lounge on the ground floor which has a TV, books and games. There is also our classroom that comfortably sits 60 people.
In our well-equipped self-catering kitchen, there is plenty of preparation and storage space, allowing you to cook up a delicious meal. We have all the appliances you'll need to use plus an ample range of crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, pots and pans, and utensils. If you prefer to dine al fresco (in the warmer months, of course!), there are picnic benches outside in our lovely gardens.
This hostel is available for hire on an exclusive basis. Either as 7 bedrooms/28 beds, or for a £150 supplement, 12 bedrooms/48 beds.

Built in the 1860's as the Hurst Hill Hotel, YHA Totland was bought to bridge the gap of hostels west of the Isle of Wight. This was around the time that YHA opened a set of smaller temporary hostels to cater for summer visitors.
Hi folks, we are a small team, here on the Isle of Wight, usually 4 of us, Bob, Ed, Jen & Felix. We do everything here, we look after you from when you book, from when you arrive, to answering any of your questions you can throw our way at reception. We provide cooked breakfasts, packed lunches for you to take with you on picnics, evening meals for you to come back to at the end of a busy day. To cap off a perfect day, we’ll serve you a night cap or two from our bar, “the Mermaid Bar”
Managers recommendations:
Our traditional seaside desserts, Banana Splits and Knickerbockerglories are the best!! Our Gin Bar, with over 100 gins is pretty cool - we like to call it our “Ginporium”.
