Discovery and connection
This watery walk from the heart of Manchester will include the Bridgewater Canal, MediaCity, the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Irwell. Heritage highlights include Castlefield Basin and Roman Fort, the Imperial War Museum North and Ordsall Hall (a Tudor manor house). The route samples parts of Stages 1 and 20 of the GM Ringway, Greater Manchester's 200-mile walking trail. There are excellent public transport connections as Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop and Deansgate station are only 10 minutes’ walk from the hostel. Free Bus 1 (from Manchester Piccadilly) also stops nearby.
