Saturday 19th September 2026
Distance: 6.5 - 7.5 miles (10 - 12km)
Duration: 3 - 4 hours
Led by: Steve Ellis, British Nordic Walking National Trainer
Skills and confidence
This circular walk utilising both countryside and woodland paths will be an opportunity for each person to be shown the basics of how to use Nordic Walking poles on a journey of around 10-12km (approx. 3-4 hours). The emphasis will be on gaining an appreciation of using Nordic Walking poles, as well as enjoying the social aspects of a group walk amongst stunning surrounds and great company.
The planned walk will be open to all who can walk on undulating terrain, on various surfaces, with sections of easy to moderate ascent and descent. Each person should equip themselves for a couple of hours walking (appropriate footwear, waterproofs, layers as required, personal first aid kit, snacks, drinks, etc).
Steve Ellis has 14 years’ experience as a Nordic Walking National Trainer with British Nordic Walking and Nordic Walking Instructor with Gemini Outdoor. Steve is also an International Mountain Leader, and has led Nordic Walking expeditions with his own company to Morocco (Mt Toubkal), Tanzania (Kilimanjaro), France (Pyrenees and Alps) and Italy (Tuscany), as well as numerous UK adventures.
Nordic Walking poles will be available for free hire for the walk.
