Health and wellbeing
We will spend up to 3 hours walking, with time at the hostel before and after exploring the mindfulness theme.
Our walk starts from YHA South Downs, passing through Southease before a gentle climb through an open landscape to the edge of Telscombe. After this there are outstanding views of across the South Downs before heading down to the River Ouse which we follow back to the hostel.
This will be a walk with a difference. During our morning together we will discover some of the different qualities of mindfulness. When we are mindful, we can become fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, without the mind becoming overly distracted. These qualities of mindfulness can be brought to everything we do, so before our walk we will explore some mindfulness practises in stillness and movement. We will then apply these skills to the activity of walking in nature, seeing and appreciating whatever we notice.
The walk is hilly and mainly follows rough tracks. No special walking shoes are needed but shoes with some grip are recommended.
