Walkers crossing a river on stepping stones

Walkers Welcome

Our unique and historic buildings are perfectly positioned for some of the best walking trails and tracks throughout England and Wales. No matter how many miles you’ve covered, we’ve got somewhere for you to rest your legs and leave your muddy boots to dry off.

Walking and rambling are becoming increasingly popular in England and Wales and with so many amazing sights to see it really is no wonder. Many of our Youth Hostels have been awarded the Walkers Welcome badge by Visit England in recognition of our commitment to providing top quality accommodation for walkers and ramblers.

YHA hostels are perfect for those travelling on foot as many of our hostels have drying rooms where you can store your muddy boots and hang your wet clothes to dry off (we are subject to the Great British weather after all!) plus you can choose whether to bring your own and self-cater or tuck into a delicious freshly prepared meal, replenishing your energy for the miles ahead.

A lot of our Youth Hostels have walking trails starting from the door so just ask our knowledgeable staff to recommend a route or provide you with a map and you’re good to go!

YHA is proud to have been awarded the Walkers Welcome badge by VisitEngland for many of our hostels. The scheme means that you can rest assured that our hostels provide walkers with good quality accommodation and facilities that meet their particular needs.
