One of YHA’s most remote hostels, Llanddeusant is a traditional style hostel in the Black Mountain range of the Brecon Beacons. It has an informal, family feel which is boosted by a range of on and off-site outdoor activities provided by Arc Adventures.
Perfect for group and family get togethers, Llanddeusant is situated within an international dark skies area, an area of outstanding natural beauty and an international Geo-park. Facing west, The Youth Hostel garden, has seating and tables for meals. you can enjoy beautiful sunsets and views over Coed Pen Arthur and Tricrug across to the peak of the Black Mountain (Mynydd Du).
Hiking and biking trails lead directly from the hostel to the legendary Llyn-y-Fan glacial lake and across into one of the most stunning and remote mountain areas in the UK. The area is known for an abundance of Red Kites. Other nearby attractions include the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Aberglasney Gardens, and the medieval castles of Dryslwyn, and Carreg Cennen.

The hostel is designed around being self-catered although full board options are available in the summer months. It boasts an impressive fully equipped self-catering kitchen with two big ovens and all the plates, cutlery and pans you will need to feed the hordes.

We can provide catered options for groups of 10 or more – please contact the hostel directly.
There is no phone signal and no Wi-Fi - meaning it is a real escape from modern life. Instead hostel staff are on hand to give you recommendations of tracks, trails & other attractions locally.
Campers are welcome but there is limited space for tents at YHA Llanddeusant and we would only really recommend small hiking style tents use our facilities.
