Located in a peaceful spot in an unspoilt Lincolnshire village, YHA Thurlby is a 15th century former village forge, complete with a lovely lawned garden and orchard. The homely hostel is full of character and features both Victorian and Georgian additions to the building.

The Fens are natural cycling country and Rutland Water, an important area for bird life, offers a great choice of watersports and walks - perfect for activity breaks and walking. Visit Belvoir Castle, Burghley House and nearby market towns for days out.

The Hostel

YHA Thurlby has 18 beds in both dorm rooms and family rooms. En-suite rooms are also available. 

The hostel is self catering only, but there's a good pub called the Three Horseshoes that serves tasty food in the village. The cosy self-catering kitchen contains two ovens with eight hob rings, two kettles, two small fridges, a freezer, a microwave and an extensive range of kitchen utensils, plus crockery and cutlery for more than 20 people.

Our lovely dining room has room for your whole group and there's plenty of space to relax, with a cosy lounge which has various books and games to enjoy. There is also a reading area where you can get some peace and quiet after your day. YHA Thurlby has a good sized outdoor space for guests to enjoy.

Hire the whole place

This hostel is available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire. In 1979, YHA received a generous offer from a man who wished to leave his 15th-century forge in the village of Thurlby, near Bourne in Lincolnshire to YHA. The building opened as a YHA hostel in the year of 1980.
