History

Looking for a modern oasis in a history hot-spot? YHA Oxford opened in May 2001 and it's purpose-built as a hostel, so you'll find all the modern conveniences you'd expect from this relatively new building!

Meet the team

Nick Clements is the manager at YHA Oxford. Nick worked for YHA for 17 years, beginning as a seasonal assistant in the Yorkshire Dales, then heading for the big city lights of Manchester and London prior to a move to the dreaming spires of Oxford. Keenly exploring the wonderful gentle walking that Oxfordshire offers, particularly the joy of the Thames Path National Trail, as well as becoming an authority on the many historic public houses that Oxford has.

Manager recommends: If you're visiting Oxford on a cheap city break you must try punting on the river - it’s so much fun! For a great afternoon tea, try the café at St Mary’s Church on Cornmarket Street in the city centre. First, work up an appetite and get fantastic views of the city’s dreaming spires by climbing the church’s 13th century tower. Or, if you fancy some retail therapy visit Bicester village for discounted designer clothes.
