Why guests love YHA Grinton Lodge
Accommodation at YHA Grinton Lodge
Refurbished to a high specification in 2012, the beautiful building also boasts a gorgeous honeymoon suite complete with a free standing roll top bath on the top floor – a great place to stay for couples or if you enjoy your privacy.
We have a spacious lounge and TV room, both of which are perfect for relaxing with their comfortable seating. Cosy up in front of a roaring fire during the winter month.
For school groups, the south range of the lodge, a former stable block, is made up of classroom facilities. There are also plenty of activities to take part in on the extensive hostel grounds.
There is space for 81 people in total.
Please note that camping is sold per person and not per pitch and so, during the booking process, you will need to select the number of people that you wish to camp.
Grinton Lodge's camping area is in a fantastic location with gorgeous views over Swaledale and the village of Reeth. The campsite itself is large with space for up to eight pitches and is suitable for organised group holidays as well as family breaks.
The showers and toilets are 250 metres from the campsite with 24 hour access available to campers.
Campers also have use of the self-catering kitchen in the Youth Hostel from 6.30am until 11.30pm.
There are no barbecue facilities but guests are welcome to bring their own.
The car park is about 250 metres from the camp site.
The campsite at Grinton lodge is open when the Youth Hostel is open.
Small campfires are allowed and must be supervised at all times.
For something a bit different, why not try YHA’s camping pods? There are five of them in the grounds of YHA Grinton Lodge. If you like camping but can’t stand the wind, rain and cold, then these heated wooden cabins are the perfect alternative. Great for family breaks, our Standard Pod sleeps two (on two futon beds) and our Large Pod sleeps four/five (on a double futon and two single beds). There is a communal BBQ for guests to use and each pod has individual decking for you to bring your own disposable BBQ. Bring all your usual camping gear - apart from bedding as it's already included!

This former hunting lodge was built in 1817 and remained in private hands until after the Second World War when it was sold to YHA and has been used as a Youth Hostel ever since. The castle-esque building is impressive in structure and design and is built around a central courtyard.

If you're looking for a camping holiday with a difference, try our new camping pods.
