YHA Llywn y Celyn is now known as YHA Brecon Beacons

It could be the best name change since Norma Jean took a shine to Marylin Monroe - YHA Llwyn y Celyn has changed its name to YHA Brecon Beacons! After careful consideration we decided to rename our hostel so that we really make the most of its location in the idyllic Brecon Beacons National Park.

YHA Brighton officially opened by MP Penny Mordaunt

Coastal Communities Minister Penny Mordaunt officially opened YHA Brighton on Old Steine Road, on Monday 19 January. We have invested more than £1.2 million transforming the former 4-star Royal York Hotel into a luxury 180 bed Youth Hostel!

Our opening of YHA Brighton has not only provided much-need affordable accommodation for tourists and visitors to Brighton, but also secured the future of an historic Grade II listed building and also created 31 new jobs in the local economy.

My friend and I, along with our two eight year old daughters recently stayed at Buttermere, in the Lake District. It was our first experience of staying in a hostel and I must admit a great time was had by all.

After a disastrous night spent camping due to torrential rain and cold winds, we rang YHA and were informed there was a family room available at YHA Buttermere.

We are now up and running and open for business at our gorgeous new site in Brighton. It is brilliant to be back in this great British seaside town.

The 2014 Hostelling International Sustainability Fund First Prize of £25,000 will be used to support the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof of The Crow’s Nest at YHA Boggle Hole.

Thank you for your vote and encouraging others to vote for YHA Boggle Hole too, we did it again for the second year in a row! In case you can't remeber, last year was the biomass boiler installed at YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass. We received the most votes thanks to our YHA members and guests.

YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass Celebrates £1.3m Investment

Children from Beddgelert Primary School, the Chairman of Snowdonia National Park and legendary mountaineer Alan Hinkes have helped declare YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass officially re-open after its £1.3 million refurbishment.

The Youth Hostel’s extensive refurbishment early this year has resulted in YHA Snowdon Pen-y-Pass becoming both environmentally and financially sustainable and has secured its long-term future. The refurbishment has also helped it achieve 4-star Visit Wales accreditation.
