Okehampton Castle
Step back into time with a visit to this dramatic castle, mentioned in the Doomsday Book, now a haunted ruin. Look out for open air performances during Summer.
Nestled within woodlands on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, YHA Okehampton Bracken Tor is set within four acres of landscaped grounds. Ideally situated within walking distance of Okehampton town, with direct access to Dartmoor and the granite way cycle path, the venue is perfect for those looking for a relaxing retreat.
YHA Okehampton Bracken Tor consists of two buildings - a recently converted, arts and crafts detached house and a beautiful, converted hunting lodge - making it the ideal accommodation for individuals, families, and groups alike.
Make your trip to Okehampton memorable by booking some activities at the Okehampton Adventure Centre, which offers group outdoor sessions throughout the year.

We have limited volunteering opportunities throughout the year and often have work experience students for four to eight week placements. In winter there is the possibility to work on the buildings and in the summer we have opportunities to work with the catering, housekeeping or grounds maintenance teams. Please contact the hostel directly for details.
