Places to stay in Peterborough

Peterborough is a relatively small city packed with historical landmarks, making it ideal for an educational break or simply a day trip around the main attractions. The centre is heavily pedestrianised, and cyclists will notice that there are suitable paths and lanes available to make much of the city accessible by bike.

Peterborough is known as the "Gateway to the Fens" thanks to its proximity to the natural marshland and wildlife reserves that lie in the East of England. With footpaths and nature trails around the Fens and beyond, it's the perfect location for a holiday outdoors in summer.

Five Free Things To Do In Peterborough

Peterborough Museum
Often noted as Peterborough's most haunted building, this museum showcases the city's history and development, as well as works by local artists and a museum medicine garden inspired by Tudor plant remedies.

Ferry Meadows Country Park
On the western outskirts of Peterborough you'll find Nene Park, the focal point of which is the beautiful Ferry Meadows Country Park. This green area boasts 500 acres of award-winning parkland, ideal for picnics and days in the sun.

Eye Green Nature Reserve
Animal-loving families should head straight to Eye Green, a reserve consisting of a 15-acre lake and several woodlands and reed beds. You'll find plenty of birds and amphibians here, including swans and migratory geese, as well as a colourful array of flowers throughout the year.
