YHA Castleton is moving to a superb new site from March 2012 at YHA Castleton Losehill Hall.

The new hostel is a totally refurbished gothic-Victorian mansion, standing in beautiful formal gardens. The property is surrounded by 27 acres of peaceful parkland with woods and streams.

YHA Castleton Losehill Hall is at the edge of Castleton village , overlooked by the Winnats Pass. Mam Tor and Peveril Castle spread across the hillside and are riddled with caverns to explore around a delightful medieval village.  It is a perfect base for a visit to the heart of the Peak District, Britain’s oldest National Park, with many activities both gentle and adventurous on the doorstep.

The current site in the market place at Castleton is staying open until Christmas 2011, so if you want to make a last visit to this historic site – be quick!  The village Christmas lights are all on and the gift shops and cafes all open late.

Castleton

Originally Castleton Hall, this building dates back to the 13th century and, together with the former vicarage, stands at the heart of the village square. Walkers staying at YHA Castleton will be spoilt for choice. There are many fine routes around the valley which is overlooked by the spectacular Winnats Pass and Mam Tor, known as the shivering mountain.

For families, Peveril Castle and a choice of underground caves are all within walking distance. Many popular Peak District attractions are just a short drive away including the magnificent Chatsworth House, Poole's Cavern, and Haddon Hall. After a hectic day, relax and enjoy a drink in the bar, with a carefully selected range of beers and wines available from 12 midday until 11pm.
