Probably the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles with its panoramic views and mountain backdrop. It dates back to about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period. 1½ miles east of Keswick.
Chester Castle: Agricola Tower and Castle Walls
This 12th century tower was the original gateway to Chester Castle. It contains a chapel with exceptional wall paintings. An access stair to the castle’s wall-walk is nearby.
