YHA Skiddaw Bunkhouse is a remote mountain hostel, accessible only on foot or by mountain bike. Situated at 1550 feet (470m) on the flanks of Skiddaw, 3.5 miles from the nearest road, it is the highest YHA bunkhouse in Britain and an ideal base for exploring the quiet Northern Fells. A former shooting lodge on the Cumbria Way, it offers simple yet comfortable accommodation. Solar panels provide hot water and lighting, whilst wood-burning stoves provide the only heating. There is no mains electricity, phone signal, internet or TV to distract from the tranquil surroundings.
The hostel is self-catering only, but our small shop and bar stocks everything you need to make a simple meal. YHA Skiddaw Bunkhouse is especially good for groups - so if you're coming in a group of over 16 people, you can make an enquiry here.
