Mount Grace Priory
This unusual monastery is the best preserved Carthusian priory in Britain. Don't miss the reconstructed monk’s cell and herb plot.
Cote Ghyll Mill is adjacent to the Cleveland Way, the Coast to Coast and is at the start of the Lyke Wake Walk route. From the Mill is a vast network of public footpaths leading onto the North Yorkshire Moors and beyond. For those who prefer a gentle stroll, visit Cod Beck Reservoir and Sheep Wash – local popular beauty spots.
There are numerous trails across the North Yorkshire Moors to test all abilities. Local trails in easy reach of Cote Ghyll Mill are the ‘Square Corner & Fangdale Beck’ (21 mile) and ‘Swainby & Wharlton Moor’ (18 miles)
National Cycle network (Route 65) passes by the Mill which takes in minor roads and traffic-free routes on bridleways past Cod Beck reservoir.
On the west side of the North Yorks Moors National Park, yet only 1.5 miles from the A19 dual carriageway between Thirsk and Teeside.
When approaching from the A19 North or Southbound, exit at the A684 slip road signed for “Northallerton/Osmotherley” Alternatively, from Northallerton, take the A684 road signed for ‘Teeside’ and follow this road (under the A19) to Osmotherley.
Travel into Osmotherley and at the T junction/village cross turn left. Cote Ghyll Mill is approximately ¼ mile out of the village on the right, just after the Cote Ghyll Caravan and Camping Park.

YHA Osmotherley is a perfect venue to meet the needs of schools, colleges, and field trips with our teacher-led activity packages. There is comfortable accommodation for up to 72 people and the hostel has en-suite rooms, a classroom, restaurant and self catering facilities.
