Hathersage is continually buzzing with climbing, walking and cycling enthusiasts who cannot get enough of the likes of Stanage Edge, renowned for pushing climbers of all levels to their limits. For those wishing to explore elsewhere, they will find that the village is conveniently located.
Just a mile’s walk from Little John’s grave and surrounded by amazing cycling routes, YHA Hathersage makes a great base to explore Derbyshire.
Activity groups and school trips alike are surrounded by exciting things to do. The Charlotte Bronte Literature Trail takes in North Lees Manor, or you could visit favourites like Chatsworth House and Speedwell Cavern. For adventurers, you’ll find a fantastic range of walking, climbing and cycling nearby. Don’t miss the famous Stanage Edge – an iconic challenge for experienced climbers.
Most of our bedrooms are dormitory style rooms with bunk beds. We always try to allocate bedrooms close together and will never ask your group to share bedrooms with anyone not in your group.
Upgrades are available for sole use of an area, floor or the entire place.
This cosy Victorian mansion sits conveniently near to a train station and offers free Wi-Fi, a garden and amazing views of the area. We offer a spacious dining room and a cosy lounge for groups to relax in between their adventures. Walkers and cyclists will love our handy drying room and cycle store.
With tasty breakfasts, packed lunches and evening meals, groups are sure to find something delicious to eat at YHA Hathersage.
Meal plans range from bed and breakfast up to full-board catering. Vegetarian options are available and we aim to cater for any special dietary requests.
Parking is available at the hostel.
Reception opening hours: From 07:30 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 22:00.
Food and drink: Breakfast is served to guests daily from 07:30 – 09:00.
Self-catering: Guests have access to a self-catering kitchen.
Parking: Parking is situated in between the main house and annexe. There is space for six cars. There is limited on-street parking near the hostel and there is a public car park approximately 10-minute walk from the hostel on Oddfellows Road (opposite the outdoor swimming pool).
WiFi: Free WiFi is available in shared social spaces.
Dogs: Pets are not permitted at YHA Hathersage, except when hiring the whole hostel through YHA Exclusive Hire. Assistance dogs are welcome - please notify us at the time of booking.

YHA Hathersage is a Gothic Victorian stone built house with stables to the rear. The stables are now part of the hostel. The hostel opened as a YHA in 1970.
