A handy base for cycling and touring the west Cumbrian coast and great walking in the quieter northwestern lakeland fells, this hostel is a converted 17th century watermill in an idyllic spot on the river Cocker. Perfectly located for hiking and all kinds of outdoor activity breaks, this has all the makings of a magical Lake District holiday you'll never forget. Self catering only but it’s only a 10 minute walk to the centre of this attractive market town with plenty of good pubs and restaurants.

Parking is limited, but there is a cycle store if you're arriving on two wheels.

How to get here

From Main Street follow Station Street, turn left into Fern Bank taking the track at the end. From the A66 take the A5086 to Cockermouth then turn second right into Fern Bank. The hostel is down the track off Fern Bank.
