About Berwick
YHA Berwick is housed in a 240 year old restored former Granary. Boasting a fantastic blend of original features with a state of the art hostelling experience, it offers cheap UK coastal breaks or a great starting point for activity and family breaks in Northumberland. The hostel has 13 bedrooms which are all en-suite, a cafe/bistro and easy access to the historic town centre. In a prime location on the quay-side overlooking the river Tweed, it is un-mistakable due to its “lean” - similar to the famous tower in Pisa!
Feel free to explore the Granary’s very own art gallery, hosting exhibits from international artists and locals alike. You can also embark on the Lowry trail and visit some of the sites immortalised in Lowry’s paintings.
Whilst in Berwick, you can walk around the ramparts and Elizabethan town walls which offer some great views. Berwick is also great for walkers and cyclists and is on the Sustrans cycle route. So, whether you’re a walker, cyclist, beachcomber, culture vulture or are just looking for a relaxing weekend break you can look no further than YHA Berwick.

- The lowry trail around the town. Follow the mapped route around Berwick which takes in some of the famous sites that Lowry immortalised in his paintings. This is a great way to spend a day seeing the town, taking in some of the wonderful scenery.
Holy Island. Take a trip to the world famous pilgrimage site and spend a day exploring the island and the fantastic surrounding beaches.
The Maltings. For all you culture vultures, why not take in a show at the Maltings theatre. Whether it be a famous comedian, a performance by a touring theatre company or a musical performance, the Maltings has something for all ages all year round.
The Barrells Ale house. A favourite of guests and staff alike, nothing quite beats unwinding with a pint at this award winning traditional pub a stones throw from the hostel. Great beer, great banter and great music.
