The delightful market town sits on the Coast-to-Coast Walk and has an abundance of walking and biking opportunities, while the River Eden and River Tees are fantastic for canoeing. Keen paragliders can make use of a local paragliding centre, new for the 2008 season. Large groups are catered for and there is a drying room, two self-catering kitchens and storage for bikes and canoes. The property itself is located in the centre of Kirkby Stephen with a range of pubs, bars and eating places all within walking distance.
