Overview

Located in the heart of Brontë Country in Haworth, West Yorkshire, YHA Haworth is a beautiful Victorian Gothic mansion that has welcomed travellers, walkers, families and groups for generations. This hostel offers affordable, high-quality accommodation, from private en-suite rooms to shared dorms, alongside self-catering kitchens and inviting communal lounges. With direct access to the Yorkshire moors and the nearby Brontë Parsonage Museum, it is an ideal base for exploring the landscape that inspired the famous literary family or for enjoying peaceful countryside escapes.

Today, YHA Haworth blends heritage preservation with modern innovation. Many upgrades have transformed this building into one of the most sustainable, accessible and guest-focused hostels in the YHA network, while carefully maintaining its historic charm…

Solar panels installed across the slate roofs generate renewable energy, significantly reducing the building’s carbon footprint while blending with its architecture. Electric vehicle charging points have also been added, making it easy for guests to travel more sustainably.

Accessibility has been a key priority. The entire site has been designed to be fully inclusive, featuring a newly created accessible kitchen with adapted worktops, sinks and appliances. This allows all guests, including those with mobility needs, to prepare meals comfortably and independently.

Indoor spaces have also been refreshed. The games room has been re-decorated, preserving its ornate original features while introducing modern touches such as a pool table, foosball and comfortable seating. Meeting and conference rooms have been upgraded with high-quality equipment, making them suitable for corporate events, group gatherings and creative workshops.

Outside, the grounds have been enhanced to create welcoming social spaces. The gardens, grounds, fire-pit and picnic areas offer space for relaxation, dining and enjoying the pretty surroundings.

Every improvement at YHA Haworth has been carefully designed to honour its heritage while creating a sustainable, inclusive and memorable experience for our guests. Book your next stay today.

Meet the team

Our dedicated team, many of whom are local to Haworth, are on hand and happy to offer you the best advice and guidance to really appreciate this stunning location. Not only is Haworth famous for its vast and stunning landscapes which influenced the iconic Bronte Family but the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2018, which runs steam trains on a daily basis through summer and is a must for steam enthusiasts!

Manager recommends: With excellent transport links to Leeds, Bradford and Halifax you can really get out and about exploring the local areas and the manager recommends Hebden Bridge as a quirky little town to visit, it has built a reputation for "great little shops" and has an unusually high density of independent shops for a UK town of its size with more than 20 cafes and tea rooms, and about 20 pubs, micro pubs and restaurants so you certainly wont be bored. There really is something for everyone at YHA Haworth!
