YHA Bellever has a wildlife area with access for all and is full of interesting facts, flora and fauna. The East Dart River, Bellever forest and Bellever Tor, which surround the hostel, are ideal places for lots of family fun. Easy to follow self led walking routes are available from reception.

TAVISTOCK, an ancient Stannary (tin-assaying and tin-marketing) town which was voted 'The Best Food Town in the Southwest' in 2006. It is also the birth place of Sir Francis Drake, who lived at the near-by Buckland Abbey. Tavistock is only 15 miles from YHA Bellever and has a very good indoor market from Tuesday - Saturday.
Tavistock Goosey Fair, which dates back to the 12th century is held on the second Wednesday in October.
