Description:
The gateway to the Cheviot Hills, Wooler makes an ideal base for exploring the Northumberland National Park, castles such as Alnwick Bamburgh or Floors and fine sandy beaches on the Northumberland Coast. Walkers will love St Cuthbert’s Way and the Ravenber long-distance walks along with many other local day walks, while cyclists can ride on of the way-marked Wooler cycle hub routes or even part of the 200-mile Steel Bonnet cycle route.
Don’t forget your binoculars for spotting puffins on a boat trip to the sea bird sanctuary on the Farne Islands or in the Cheviots. Search the local hills for cup and ring markings Hillforts and other archaeological sites. Eat in our on-site restaurant or visit the town for its inns, specialist shops and grocery stores. The hostel is a heritage building, a former Women’s Land Army hostel, interpretation panels around the site tells of the fascinating history of the building.
