2 days course costs £100 and includes use of all tools (not including accommodation). Overnight prices start from £14.40pppn (weekdays) and £16.60pppn at weekends in dormitory accommodation.
Private rooms are also available - please enquire for prices. Families are welcome and can stay at the Youth Hostel. Family rooms can be booked There are many places of interest locally to visit.
Work through from basic bike maintenance to the level that you need. Parts that are fitted to your bikes are charged at very reasonable rates.
You will look at:
- Basic bike maintenance
- Punctures, tubes and tyres
- Brakes – new blocks/new cables/new levers or just sorting out the ones already on your bike (not hydraulics -sorry)
- Gears – new derailleur’s/new cables/new shifters or just sorting out the ones already on your bike
- Straightening and truing wheels, re-spoking
- Any other things that you need sorting out
Some people may choose to concentrate on the basics while others go straight for the wheel building - you decide.
Maximum of 5 people on the course and a minimum of 2 people are required to make it viable.
If you need anything specific for your bike then you either bring it with you or give YHA Llandeusant plenty of notice to order it for you to ensure that it is ready and waiting for you at the start of the course.
YHA Llanddeusant is self-catering, but Paul the hostel manager will be cooking a curry on the middle night – you can arrange to have food delivered if you contact Paul – especially if you are cycling to the hostel.

Hike and Bike Weekend
Hawkshead
A great summer Lake District weekend getaway with the perfect combination of a day’s mountain biking and a day in the Lakeland fells. Based at YHA Hawkshead a listed Regency mansion in extensive grounds overlooking tranquil Esthwaite Water in the Southern Lakes, the location couldn’t be better for 2 days of adventure activities led by Country Adventures experienced and sociable instructors. Saturdays mountain biking venue running parallel to Lake Windermere offers tree-covered slopes bisected by bridleways and tracks that are not too difficult, but do provide great sport with climbs, short fast descents, hidden tarns, and the occasional muddy pool – also an excellent venue for those new to mountain biking. Saturday will be topped with an evening BBQ in the YHA grounds. Sundays group guided walk, graded moderate, will cap an enjoyable weekend away.

Cycle Hire for Families and Individuals on Dartmoor

YHA Okehampton has a fleet of Giant Bikes, suitable for families and individuals to hire. There are a range of sizes as well as child trailers and child seats. The property is located on both the Sustrans trail around Dartmoor and the Coast to Coast Cycle trail across Devon. You can also take part in half-day mountain bike guided activities during Easter, May and October School Holidays, which are bookable at YHA Okehampton. Shorter periods of hire are also available.
