Places to stay in Stratford-upon-Avon

Located in the beautiful rural county of Warwickshire, Stratford-Upon-Avon is unsurprisingly a living, breathing shrine to the life and works of its most famous son. The Royal Shakespeare Company are a constant fixture in the town, with the grand Royal Shakespeare Theatre hosting performances of his works most nights of the week. Bard of Avon aficionados will no doubt also be interested in visiting five of the key houses in Shakespeare's life, including his birthplace, the homes of both his daughter and wife Anne Hathaway and Nash Place - the playwright's final home. All of the properties have been lovingly maintained with their period furnishings, and are a must-visit for anyone with a love of all things Shakespeare.

Don't worry though - there is more to Stratford than just Shakespeare. As you may have guessed, the town is built around the picturesque River Avon, and any trip to the area is not complete without a leisurely stroll along this historic waterway. Within the centre of the town, many of the buildings still feature the original half-timbered, black and white buildings and many an hour can be spent simply wandering around the market town's streets, taking in the stunning architecture.
