Wild about food

Wild about food

Brambling, the lost art of wild blackberry picking, is ripe to be re-discovered this autumn.

Blackberry picking is free and juicily delicious fun. Even better they are in season til November.

The prickly shrub can be found in abundance everywhere and anywhere from ancient hedgerows and woods to heaths and parks.

They should be a deep purple-black colour when picked. And if you managed to pick more than you can eat (much more challenging than it sounds) then you can create mouthwatering jams, pies and crumbles when you get home.
