On foot: Walking/cycling access only via Bowness Knot in the Ennerdale Valley, 6 miles. Also via Buttermere, 6 miles, Honister, 4 miles and Wastwater, 6 miles. Access to Black Sail is permitted for staff only and they're permitted to drive between YHA Black Sail and YHA Ennerdale. Customers for YHA Black Sail may leave their cars in the Bowness Knott car park, but their vehicles are not authorised beyond and belongings will need to be carried from here.
By bus: The nearest bus stops are at YHA Honister or at Gatesgarth Buttermere – both 2.5 miles away by hill path. Both are stops on the 77 Honister Rambler service from Keswick.
