Originally built in 1943, YHA Wooler offers a high standard of accommodation for groups and families. The property acts as a great spot for those looking to escape to the countryside on a rural retreat.

Across the entire building there is a total of 15 bedrooms.

Bedrooms

Three en-suite rooms that sleep up to 2 people each. They include 1 set of bunk beds.

One room that sleeps up to 2 people. It includes 1 set of bunk beds.

Two en-suite rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.

Three rooms that sleep up to 4 people each. They include 2 sets of bunk beds.

One en-suite room that sleeps up to 6 people. It includes 3 sets of bunk beds.

One room that sleeps up to 8 people. It includes 4 sets of bunk beds.

Huts

Three huts that sleeps 2 people each. They include 1 set of bunk beds.

One hut that sleeps 3 people. It includes a high sleeper bunk with a double bed underneath.

A cot is available.


Shared spaces

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is located on the ground floor and includes a range of conveniences listed below.

Kitchen appliances: clothes airer, grill, kettle, microwave, oven, refrigerator, stove, toaster, washing machine.

Kitchenware: dishes and cutlery for 50 people, kitchen utensils, pots, pans.

Cooking basics: salt and pepper.

Cleaning basics: anti-bacterial spray, bin bags, cloths, paper towels, soap, sponges, tea towels, washing up liquid.

Located on the ground floor, the large dining room seats up to 44 people.

A highchair is available.

Lounge

The lounge area is located on the ground floor in the dining room and seats up to 10 people across soft seating.

Bathrooms

Across the entire building there is a total of seven bathrooms, plus a separate shower block for guests staying the the Shepherds Huts.

Outdoors

Outside is a large garden.

The garden is enclosed with a fence.

You can stay in our homely hostel or try one of our unique and fully-equipped Shepherd's Huts - painstakingly created by local craftsmen.

YHA Wooler is excellent for walking, cycling and mountain biking. There’s plenty of choice to be had here, either long distance along St Cuthbert’s Way to Lindisfarne or staying closer to home in the hills.

Meet the team

YHA Wooler has operated as an independent hostel since March 2018. The team firmly believe that Wooler and the wider area of Northumberland have lots to offer.

Manager recommends: The team can give you lots of advice on local walks and regularly organises guided walks in the Cheviot Hills. They are also volunteer trainee member of the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and work with local groups, including Scouts and DofE Groups.
