I am a sustainable product design graduate with a love of the great outdoors, open fires and home cooked food. I grew up in a caravan on top of a very windy hill and now live in a small town in the Peak District, where I spend my time dog walking, camping and developing new recipes in the kitchen.

I was introduced to youth hostelling at a very young age. Having had the pleasure of a rural upbringing, hostels gave me and my family the opportunity to experience cities, discover far flung places and see life beyond that of our small town. One of my fondest YHA memories was getting ready for my graduation, in a tent, while camping in the idyllic orchard of Coverack Youth Hostel!

My time at university strengthened my love for environmental study and gave me the opportunity to develop products for the Eden Project and Newquay Community Orchard. I aim to bring my sustainable mindset and holistic perspective to the Youth Advisory Team. I think it is imperative that the YHA continues to provide a service that has longevity, and the power to adapt in the ever-changing circumstance of our current climate.

I believe hostel stays can offer a great means of educating young people on the importance of sustainability; encouraging us to recognise our responsibility in safeguarding the planet for current and future generations.
